Pine | Fir | Spruce | Oakmoss | Forest-y | Grounding
This was the third scent we released for Herbal Hannah. With Washy-Garami and Forgiveness proceeding it, I wanted to make something completely different from the two citrusy crowd pleasers. I remembered I had just ordered a really cool new oil that I was excited to work with: oakmoss. One wiff of oakmoss immediately reminded me of the midwestern forests of Michigan, where I would visit my grandmother in the summers, and I decided to create a scent that smelled just like her backyard.
There are a lot of different conifers in Michigan and although similar, all have very distinct scents. What is a conifer you ask? Trees that have needle shaped or scale-like leaves such as pine, fir, balsam, juniper, spruce, and some yew! With that in mind, I concocted a coniferous & citrus cocktail (you like my alliteration there?) to be blended with oakmoss, my base & strongest smelling ingredient. The light amount of citrus in this scent helps add more freshness and enhance the natural citrus notes in the conifers.
The oils in this blend actually are a deep green-brown color, so no additive was added, as it should turn the bar at least a beige color.
Data & Conclusion:
This bar truly transports me back to those summers spent in Michigan, getting lost in the forest behind the house with the neighbor kid (what up, Hailey?) for hours, and being bitten to pieces by mosquitos. The scent is deeply relaxing and comforting.

I'm a hardcore fan of Earl Grey and Forgiveness (which are super pretty bars btw), so this plain looking soap with the grandma name didn't really appeal to me at first. I got a sample in a recent order though and OMG what have I been sleeping on? Super soothing with a sweet forest earthy thing going on, I love how comforting this soap is.
The smell of this soap is so comforting😊
Grandma's backyard has a nice flowery smell that still lasts for a few hours after use. I would definitely buy again!
I’m not sure why but it made my skin breakout, very odd since I never have this problem with any other soaps, it smells good I wish I could use it
This is a really nice looking and feeling soap that makes you feel like you are in the woods. The scent lasts quite a bit to keep you forest fresh!
